THE PLAYGROUND INFORMATION GAP
Important playground information is easily lost.
A duty teacher notices something at recess. Another teacher sees something similar the next day. A wellbeing leader hears about one incident but not the other.
Individually, they are observations. Together, they may reveal a pattern.
Playground Pulse brings those observations together, giving school leaders a clearer view of what is happening across their playground.
See the patterns that are difficult to see day-to-day.
Playground Pulse brings individual observations together so leadership teams can understand where, when and why playground behaviours are occurring.
Emerging priorities
See what needs attention now.

Hotspot identification
Understand where behaviours are clustering.
Behaviour trends
See patterns across breaks, locations and behaviour types.
Targeted responses
Turn insight into practical action.
Data is only useful if schools can act on it.
Playground Pulse goes beyond incident reporting. When patterns emerge, schools can use targeted responses designed around their specific point of need.
• targeted supervision responses
• structured-play initiatives
• short explicit-teaching lessons
• student-leader messaging
• playground focus areas
• follow-up and comparison over time
Data Driven Recommendations

Clearer information. More targeted decisions.
SEE EARLIER
TARGET BETTER
Identify emerging playground patterns before isolated observations become disconnected incidents.
Focus supervision, teaching and wellbeing responses where they are most needed.
RESPOND CONSISTENTLY
MEASURE CHANGE
Compare patterns over time and see whether targeted responses are having an impact.
Give staff and student leaders a clearer shared focus.
From playground observation to informed action.
Duty staff record relevant observations in seconds.
01 CAPTURE
Duty staff can quickly record playground incidents as they happen using the mobile-friendly logger, helping important observations reach school leaders without relying on memory or informal follow-up.
Playground Pulse identifies patterns, hotspots and emerging priorities.
02 REVEAL
Playground Pulse brings observations together to highlight emerging behaviours, hotspots, year-level trends and break-time patterns across the school.
School leaders receive practical insights to guide targeted action.
03 RESPOND
Turn those patterns into practical action with school-specific recommended responses, classroom lessons, structured play initiatives and student leadership opportunities.

Review patterns over time to see whether targeted interventions are actually making a measurable difference.

From patterns to practical application
Playground Pulse doesn’t just show you what’s happening. It identifies emerging priorities and turns your school’s playground data into practical, targeted responses - helping leaders decide where to focus, what to reinforce and which strategies to put in place.
With embedded weekly student leader announcements, Playground Pulse promotes student agency to lead change.

Built from the playground up.
Matt Brougham, Founder | Primary School Teacher
I created Playground Pulse because I wanted to help schools better support their students.
Recess and lunch are such an important part of a student’s day. They’re where friendships are built, challenges arise and students learn to navigate social situations with greater independence.
I wanted to create something that could help schools better understand what their students are experiencing during these less structured parts of the day, without creating more work for already busy educators.
A big part of that was making Playground Pulse as simple as possible to use. Schools already have enough platforms, systems and logins for staff to manage. I didn’t want Playground Pulse to become another thing teachers had to learn. It has been built deliberately to be low-friction, so staff can quickly record what they’ve noticed and get back to their duty, while school leaders get the clearer picture they need.
Playground Pulse brings everyday playground observations together and helps turn them into something useful. Rather than simply presenting schools with data, it helps identify what matters and connects those insights with practical, real-world responses that schools can consider and adapt to their own context.
For me, that’s what Playground Pulse is really about: making it easier for schools to understand what’s happening, decide where support is needed and take meaningful action for their students.
I’m always happy to have a chat. If you have any questions about Playground Pulse, want to learn more or simply want to share your thoughts, flick me an email. I’d love to hear from you.
